Your own power, even in a flat

Two panels on the railing, a small inverter and, if you like, a battery. The new framework allows balcony systems of up to 800 W, and approval is under way. Register your interest to be among the first.

Power from your balcony: what changes for people who live in flats

Until now, if you lived in a flat without your own roof, you had no practical way to generate your own power. That is changing. On 14 September 2026 the Ministry of Environment and Energy announced the new self-consumption framework, which allows small balcony solar systems of up to 800 W.

Such a system is simple: two panels on the balcony railing or wall and a small inverter that feeds the energy into your home's circuit. The fridge, the router, devices on standby and anything else running during the day use the solar energy first. With a small battery, such as the GoodWe ESA Athena, the midday surplus is kept for the evening.

On a south-facing balcony, two panels generate about 900–1,100 kWh a year. That means about 96 € less on your bill without a battery and about 144 € less with one, at an electricity price of 0.16 €/kWh.

The process to permit their use is under way. Until then, we are taking registrations of interest. As soon as it opens, we will call those who registered first, to check their balcony and make a proposal.

How it all fits together

One system instead of five separate ones

The panels generate, the inverter distributes, the battery stores, and the heat pump turns electricity into heating and cooling three or four times over. You see it all in one app.

The main parts of every solar PV system. The inverter is the “brain”: it converts the energy, decides where it goes and sends the data to the app.
Example

What this means for a 120 m² house

The same heating needs (about 12,000 kWh of heat a year), a different source.

Assumptions used in the examples: electricity price 0.16 €/kWh, surplus payment 0.06 €/kWh, heating oil 1.15 €/litre, Athens. Figures are indicative. Our study works out your own numbers.

Study, supply, installation, maintenance

A project manager is with you at every step, including all the permitting.

  1. Site survey & study

We measure the space and shading, review your bills and heating loads, and size the whole system.

  2. Permitting

We handle the whole process step by step: the HEDNO (ΔΕΔΔΗΕ) application, paperwork and net billing contracts.

  3. Supply

GoodWe, GoodHeat, Huawei and Deye equipment, chosen for your own study.

  4. Installation

Solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and chargers fitted by our own crews, supervised by an engineer.

  5. Connection & setup

Grid activation, inverter and app setup, and training on how to use it.

  6. Monitoring & maintenance

We track performance remotely and carry out scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Net billing

Three ways to connect your solar system

Net billing

Simultaneous net billingthe standard choice for new systems

Whatever you use while it's being generated, you don't pay for. The surplus goes to the grid and is credited in euros on your bill.

Zero feed-in

No export to the gridall the output stays with you

The inverter keeps export to the grid at zero. The output is used or stored on site. A solution for businesses with a daytime load and for areas where the grid is saturated.

Virtual net billing

Virtual net billing with simultaneous matchingsystem at another location

The solar system is installed on a different property from the supply it offsets, e.g. on a plot of land or another of the business's buildings, provided the conditions are met.
